The “Grace Plan” | What to do when you’re having a “mommy moment”😭

Listen, I know we love our children and we’re grateful for the opportunity to raise these amazing tiny humans… we all know mom life has its challenges. However, that doesn’t mean we have to sit in those moments. Nor does having a “bad moment” make you a bad mom! (Read that again)

So, let’s shift that internal narrative!

Are you with me? Okay, keep reading… this is good!

As we shift, I encourage you to create what I’m calling a “Grace Plan”. “What is that”, you ask? Simply put,  a “grace plan”  is a list of things to do when you need to give yourself grace! We often talk about “giving ourselves grace”, and  I decided to make it a little more practical for my life.

Today, I’m sharing my “Grace Plan” with you. These are the 5 things that help me whenever I’m having one of those moments…. or days! It makes a world of difference when you don’t have to think on your feet,  because you have a preset plan of what to do. So I hope it will inspire you to create your own!  Remember, there is no right or wrong. This list is specific to your needs, and will totally vary depending on the season of your life, and age of your kiddos 😭😭😭. So apply what you love, leave what don’t, and create a plan that works for you! Let’s go!

1. Breathe Chi!

Literally stop, take a deep breath. Close out the apps, turn off the TV, or step into another space for a hot second. (I’ve done this several times in my pantry 😭😭😭). Close your eyes if you can, and BREATHE chi…. inhale and exhale!!! Such a simple practice,  but it’s such an amazing and powerful way to settle yourself in the moment.

2. Encourage yourself!

Once you’ve settled yourself, encourage yourself. Create some quick in the moment comebacks to speak over your life. Protip: prerecord yourself saying these in a voice memo so you can easily play them when you need to! A few things I say that are on my list:

“I am capable”
“I can do all things through Christ”
“It’s okay to stop and try again later”
“This moment is temporary”
“I’m having a moment, but I’m a great mom”
“LAWD, help me on TODAY”

That last one though 😭🙌🏾 I feel like I call on God all day. And you know what’s so bomb about that… He doesn’t mind. He actually wants us to rely on Him, and if I’m being honest He comes through for me every single time… even if it’s not the way I expected!

3. Create a playlist

When you don’t have the capacity to speak, it’s a great idea to have someone else help you with the “heavy lifting”. Better to have someone else speak life over you, than for you to allow those negative narratives to run wild internally! We’re done with that, remember?  I have a whole  playlist of worship songs to remind me of who I am and whose I am! It may take a few songs to get me together, but it works EVERY SINGLE TIME!

4. Change of scenery.

Strap the baby in the back and Go! Get out for a quick walk, a drive, walk the mailbox, sit on the deck… just get outside and change up the scenery. If your kids are older, go by yourself. Take some intentional deep breaths, and release the tension in your shoulders.  Idk what it is but the greenery and fresh air seem to  revive my soul and energize me to carry on!

5. Lean in to the moment.

Sometimes, those “mommy moments” require that we remain physically present,  meaning we can’t just shut things down and walk away.  In that case lean in and figure out what it is that you need to do for your little one in the moment. This may require that you reschedule a meeting, push back a play date, or delay your social post. It may require that you gracefully decline that clubhouse invite, or that phone call. And guess what? That is okay! Give yourself permission to lean in to those mommy moments when you need to, and give your littles what they need!  And as you lean in, observe, learn, be present… sometime you’ll find exactly what YOU need when you lean into those moments for your little ones!

Bonus Phone a friend!

There is so much power in community.! Having people you can call on not only to vent, but who will also build you back up, pray, laugh,  come over to help out, or send food when needed… is EVERYTHING! Having  people who are literally ready to do whatever you need to help you  so that you’re able to keep going… yea… we all need those people in our lives!

Momma, was this helpful? What will you add to you “Grace Plan”! Cant wait to hear what you come up with! Be sure to like and share with a friend in need!

How to Take Action Today!

Yesterday I hosted a room on #Clubhouse titled “Momma, It’s Time to Take Action”.

What I know is that in many instances we as moms don’t take action because we feel like we don’t have the time Or when we do take action, we overwhelm ourselves trying to do it all at once!

But what would it look like if you took THAT BIG GOAL and broke it down into bite sized action steps? What would it look like if instead of thinking you have to do everything in one day,  you gave yourself a week… a month?

Let me give you a personal example! And you betta not judge me! lol

Okay, soooo….. Shortly after lockdown due to COVID, I quickly realized the need to implement a digital/virtual component to my business. I got this bomb idea to create a group program just for stylists (that’s who I was serving at the time).

Y’all I got right to work!  I set a start date for 10 days out (SMH), and starting thinking of how to show up online to attract people for the program! If you know me, you know I love video, so I started creating content, doing IG lives… like y’all I I was in grind mode.  I literally rushed to put something together to respond to the pandemic, and within 10 days I launched and I onboarded 5 stylists for my first ever group program.

WHEW!

Now on the outside looking in, that all seems exciting! Right? Responding to a pressing need and offering a dope solution in 10 days!

But can I be real… I was overwhelmed in the process!

▶️ I hadn’t fully communicated what I needed from my husband to support the times I needed to show up for calls. I was just making it work. (I’lll have to share how he felt in another post… Lawd!)

▶️ I wasn’t fully present with Dream, she was younger so it was easier to work while with her. (this was before I had my mommy schedule, and I felt so guilty looking at her little face… but I didn’t know better at the time)

▶️ I was completely burnt out by the time the program ended. Showing up, as a fairly new mom, without a clear plan of how my home would run while working and serving my clients… at the start of a pandemic! Whew Chile!!

And although I am grateful for the results I was able to help my clients achieve in the program, especially helping them to  increase their income in the midst of a pandemic (I’m extremely proud of that).  I also know that I could have done things differently, and been more intentional about planning, to ensure that I was taking care of me in the process!

I now operate completely differently!

My husband is aware of my plans and although support was never an issue, being clear about what I need from him makes his “job” easier, and we can avoid unnecessary tension.

With my mommy schedule, I have designated days where I can go all in working on my business, taking calls…I even have a set day to batch create content. I no longer have to sacrifice time with my family.

✨I am so confident in the transformation I bring to my clients, and I now know the value I add. Y’all I’m now doing for myself what I’ve done for my clients, and increasing my income without the hustle and grind. Like I said, there is a flow on this side… and it feels amazing!

So momma, again, I ask you…. what would it look like if you took THAT BIG GOAL and broke it down into bite sized action steps? I know it can seem overwhelming to get started… or perhaps you were like me and the overwhelm is coming from trying to do it all at once… without a clear plan. Lawd!

The vision doesn’t have to overwhelm you, and with a plan in place you can avoid the guilt of feeling like you’re stealing time from your loved ones! That, coupled with knowing the value you bring to the marketplace… girl… it’s a win all around!

Momma, the choice is yours!

I beat my face 5 days last week, here’s what it taught me about mom life!

So if you’ve been following me on INSTAGRAM, then you may know that I made a commitment to myself to beat my face all week last week. I purchased some new makeup from one of my fave beauty brands, and decided to make time to do one of the things I absolutely love! Here is one of my fave looks from last week…

I had a BALL!!! Like, I got up every morning, had my coffee, did my devotional and MADE the time to do my makeup! Y’all  it was everything!

It’s so funny because as I was enjoying my daily beat,  I couldn’t help but remember when I first started doing my own makeup and the process I went through to learn how to do it correctly! And that’s when it hit me…

creating harmony and manifesting the life you desire as a mom is like beating my face!

Whether self taught or professionally trained,.. it takes being intentional to learn how to do it, but once you master it there is a flow! (Story time)

Let me take you back to 2010, when  I first starting doing my own makeup. I’d just accepted my new job as a manager at Macy’s, and I was finally ready to put in the work to learn. So, I went to the nearest Mac counter and purchased a little bit of everything.

I got home, and stood in front of my bathroom ready to SLAY.  I thought I could just start and everything would come together. Wrong! I had no clue what I was doing! Everyone I watched on YouTube, made it look so easy, but it wasn’t… for me! Y’all it was not pretty! My foundation didn’t match, my skin was breaking out… it was so bad!

After 3 weeks of unsuccessfully trying it on my own, I went back to return my products. Clearly they were the problem, not me!

Well that’s when Ms Margaret came to unknowingly save the day.🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

She helped me to understand why the products weren’t working for me, and quickly shifted to teach me what I needed to know to finally get it right! She explained the different types of foundations, how to use concealer, and even explained the importance of skin care and WASHING MY MAKEUP BRUSHES! It seemed so obvious, but I clearly needed someone to guide me in the right direction. 😭😭😭

I’m a pretty quick study so I took all that she showed me and tried again, and guess what? It actually made a difference!  My foundation actually matched, I created a skin care routine to avoid breakouts, and I even made the time to ensure my tools were cleaned and cared.  I’ve been mastering this skill, and routine over the years and well…  look at me now! Ayyyeee!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Well, the same is true for you momma…  just like I tried to pick up the art of makeup…. you may have tried to find “balance” and change your life, to no avail. And after 3 weeks/months/years of unsuccessfully trying it on your own… you’ve convinced yourself that “this just doesn’t work for me”! You may have even resolved to forfeit your promise of abundance, because “you’re a mom” and “this is just how it is”!

Overcome the Overwhelm | “Supermom Syndrome” | (Audio)

Over the past few month I’ve been leaning in to serving millennial mommas! I’m on a personal and purposeful mission to help us overcome the overwhelm, create work/life harmony, while unapologetically manifesting the life we deserve and desire!

If you are connected with me on social media, you most like have witness this unfolding! You may have heard my story about how that all came about! I’m now so grateful that I gave God my “Yes”! I don’t know about you, but I’m not always a fan of everything I’m called to do in the moment. Especially when  praying for an answer, and God turns around and tells you that “you’re the solution they’ve been praying for”! God is so funny like that!

Well since that moment I created my #MOREmomSquad community, a safe space  for mommas like me, who are ready to ditch the overwhelm and give themselves permission for M.O.R.E: Manifesting Overflow and Results in Every Area of their lives…. it’s lit!

This past week I felt led to go LIVE in our community to encourage my momma members! I felt a heaviness and God again told me I’m to rise up and be the solution, as He guides me!

Today, I’m inviting you into our conversation to encourage you, because like some of my mommas… you too, may feel overwhelmed, burdened, tired, frustrated… you may even feel like a failure as a momma! Well I’m here to empower you… and tell you…. you are not a failure! You are doing an amazing job momma…. and this audio below is just for you!

Listen and be encouraged <3!
